Camerata

Camerata:
post-Grade 1 to Grade 4

Camerata (formerly Second Strings) is open to students who have passed their Grade 1 exam or are of the equivalent standard. Musical games and singing are key learning tools to support students’ playing, and wider performing opportunities are sought to develop their musical experience. No audition is required.

Camerata is skilfully conducted by Tim Wells, using his unique arrangements and resources. Tim is a leading expert in string teaching and passionate about quality of music and education at all levels.

Second Strings rehearses 11.15-12.30pm in Orpington (Petts Wood) on Sundays.

Fees are invoiced on a termly basis at £110 per term for Camerata (2024/25 academic year).

Strings for Youth orchestras rehearse weekly during term time, working towards a concert at the end of each term.

My daughter absolutely loves being in a Strings for Youth orchestra. She enjoys the music which is always pitched at the right level, feels well-supported, and has made lovely friends. It’s always so impressive to see the end of term concert and the incredibly high standard of orchestral playing achieved under the direction of Tim Wells, who is tremendously skilled in getting the very best out of these kids.
