Grade 5 Music Theory Courses
Our Grade 5 Music Theory Courses are specially designed to give students secure knowledge and essential tools needed for passing the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory exam, the prerequisite for ABRSM Practical or Performance Grade exams beyond Grade 5.
We offer two course options:
a unique Fast Track Course which takes children from Grade 0 to Grade 5 in one year.
a Tailored Course for children who already have knowledge of music theory to at least Grade 3 standard.
The courses are an ideal pairing with Junior Chamber Ensemble and run either side of this orchestra’s rehearsal. However, students can take the courses as a standalone option. Note that both of these courses are fast-paced and as such are only suitable for children of Year 5 and above.

Grade 5 Music Theory Courses take place in Orpington (Petts Wood) on Sundays at 12.45-1.45pm (Fast Track) and 3.45-4.30pm (Tailored).
Fees are invoiced on a termly basis as follows (2024/25 academic year):
Grade 5 Music Theory Course* - Fast Track £120 or Tailored £90 per term
Junior Chamber Ensemble* - £140 per term
* Sign up to both and receive a 10% discount on total fees.
These innovative courses have been carefully devised and are taught by Dominique Wells, an experienced music theory tutor with a pass rate of 100% (50% gaining distinction marks).
Strings for Youth music theory courses help students to pass the
ABRSM Grade 5 exam securely and efficiently.
