Junior Chamber Ensemble
Junior Chamber Ensemble:
post-Grade 4 to Grade 7
Our Junior Chamber Ensemble welcomes students in Year 5 and above who have passed Grade 4 or are of the equivalent standard.
Junior Chamber Ensemble takes the form of a large chamber group, where we foster self-reliance while developing musicianship and the key skills required when playing in a group. It also a great place to enjoy making music together!
Wider performing opportunities are offered to enhance students’ experience. Entry is by audition.
Optional ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Courses run before and after Junior Chamber Ensemble rehearsals for those students who are looking to take their Grade 5 music theory exam.
Junior Chamber Ensemble is skilfully conducted by Tim Wells, a leading expert in string teaching and passionate about quality of music and education at all levels.
Junior Chamber Ensemble rehearses 2.00-3.30pm in Orpington (Petts Wood) on Sundays.
Fees are invoiced on a termly basis as follows (2024/25 academic year):
Junior Chamber Ensemble - £140 per term
Strings for Youth orchestras rehearse weekly during term time, working towards a concert at the end of each term.
I enjoy how the pieces we play have their personality and I also like how it makes a beautiful sound when everyone plays together. I like how slowly and patiently Mr Wells teaches us. I’ve made loads of friends and the end of term concerts always give me a little feeling of hope that I’m going to be a musician someday. I like coming home and telling my family how wonderful it’s been!
