Chamber Ensemble

Chamber Ensemble:
post-Grade 7

Chamber Ensemble is our senior string orchestra. Students must be in Year 7 or above, and to have passed their Grade 7 or to be the equivalent standard.

Chamber Ensemble embraces major works in the string orchestra repertoire in range of different styles ranging from Handel to Tchaikovsky and Rutter. Students’ musical experience is enhanced by the opportunity to perform in the wider community as well as concert outings to hear world-class performances in concert halls such as the Barbican and Wigmore Hall. Entry is by audition.

Chamber Ensemble is skilfully conducted by Tim Wells, a leading expert in string teaching and passionate about quality of music and education at all levels.

Chamber Ensemble rehearses 3.45-5.45pm in Orpington (Petts Wood) on Sundays.

Fees are invoiced on a termly basis at £165 per term for Chamber Ensemble (2024/25 academic year).

Strings for Youth orchestras rehearse weekly during term time, working towards a concert at the end of each term.

Joining Strings for Youth is like joining a big vibrant musical family - they organise regular trips to London concerts together, students are able to run their own quartets and octets, they do busking for chosen charities. Tim and Dominique take great care over the music they organise for their groups and it comes together in a vibrant concert at the end of term where we can all see the top quality teaching and care across the groups from the beginner strings, to the most advanced chamber orchestra. I would suggest joining a Strings for Youth ensemble without hesitation!
